CAMPING UND MOBILHEIM / WOHNWAGEN UM FRANKFURT

I know that I’m out of season unless you’re a hardcore motor enthusiast, but I’ll put it there for future travelers, as I remember, to Accommodation Frankfurt-Oder

Now personally, I’m not a big fan of living in a camper, let alone camping in a tent, but I recently had a few visitors focus who like to do that. I can see the benefit of saving money, but I think it must also be an experience that you enjoy. Not for me – too many childhood memories of bedbugs and rainy days in a tent so it’s only vaguely attractive.

I had the challenge of finding a home for them to park their motorhome, and it turned out that this is not so easy. The only official place to park a motorhome within the city limits and to reach it by public transport is the City Camp Frankfurt. The campsite has all the necessary amenities such as garbage disposal, showers, electricity and space for tents and campers. It also has the added convenience of being open all year round, which are not some others. Unfortunately, City Camp has a terrible reputation …

The problem with City Camp is that, in addition to being very unattractive and easily flooded when it rains, they are extremely rude booking and rude to owners, especially for non-German speaking, and regularly unnecessary, additional rules and fees push through. I thought it was just a bad day until I checked the other google reviews, take a look at this!

So how do you manage to survive? Lack of obvious competition, I’m afraid.

But here are the other options if you are ready to compromise on certain logistics for a comfortable stay. The costs are the same for everyone:

Oberursel Tourist Information
This is a difficult place to find on Google because it is not a campsite. The facilities are located at the end of the U3 line, so you can easily get to the center of Frankfurt in just 35 minutes. The location is basically a large car park outside the tourist office where motorhomes are allowed to park. This is the starting point of many hiking trails in the forests of the Taunus, so a beautiful location. Disadvantage is that although there are a few restaurants, toilets, an information stand, e-bike rental, ATMs, etc., but there are no real RV services such as electricity and waste disposal.

Campingplatz Mainkur

If you do not need public transport and you want to be within 30-40 minutes of the city, there are some really good options to choose from. All have good reviews and good service for campers and tents. The places are very good for nature, but you will need either cycling to public transportation or someone with a car picking you up: Hotel Frankfurt-Oder
